About Sarah
I grew up in a family of book lovers, and first became obsessed with fascinating stories when I read Piers Anthony’s Xanth fantasy series.
In high school and college, I earned a minor in musical theatre from SUNY Cortland, where I played leading roles in Gypsy, Into the Woods, and Carousel. I earned a master’s degree in English education from SUNY Albany, with a concentration in writing — but I never became a teacher.
For nearly 15 years, I have worked as a legal assistant (and sometimes paralegal) in law firms in Albany.
I have interned at both the Jennifer DeChiara Literary Agency, Corvisiero Literary Agency, and Olswanger Literary Agency.
I am a member of the Society of Children’s Book Writers and Illustrators (SCBWI).
When I am not writing or reading, I can usually be found cleaning barn stalls at our 200-year-old “Fat Chicken Farm” in Upstate New York, which my husband and I share with our three kids, a dozen chickens, two potbelly pigs, three goats, a bunny, a cat, a rambunctious lab mix named Clark, and our old boy, Walter, the chocolate lab.
